ABOUT

OUR
MISSION

At Kowiachobee, our mission is simple:

To protect, educate, and inspire through compassionate animal care and community connection.

We believe that when people experience wildlife up close, they gain a deeper understanding of our shared world — and a stronger desire to protect it.

Our
Promise

We are committed to:

  • Providing lifelong care for every animal we rescue.

  • Educating the public with honesty, compassion, and respect.

  • Operating with transparency and dedication to animal welfare.

  • Strengthening our community through kindness and connection.

Kowiachobee isn’t just a preserve — it’s a promise.

A promise to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and to nurture a world where humans and animals coexist with compassion.

Our Story

Kowiachobee began as a small dream — to create a place where animals in need could live out their lives with dignity, care, and respect. Over the years, that dream has grown into a thriving 5-acre preserve that has been a home to hundreds of animals, including big cats, birds, primates, reptiles, and farm friends.

Many of our residents came to us after facing uncertain futures. Some were former pets or exhibit animals, others victims of neglect or displacement. Here, they’ve found peace, purpose, and people who love them.

Visit. Learn. Give. Grow.

When you visit Kowiachobee, you’re not just seeing animals — you’re experiencing their stories, their resilience, and the love that keeps this place alive.

We invite you to walk the preserve, meet our amazing residents, and see the difference your support makes every single day.

Community Engagement

We provide safe, loving homes to animals that cannot be released into the wild. Each one receives individualized care, balanced nutrition, medical support, and enrichment to live a healthy, happy life.

From school field trips to community tours, Kowiachobee offers immersive experiences that teach respect for wildlife, responsible pet ownership, and environmental stewardship. Our goal is to inspire the next generation of conservation-minded leaders.

We host special events, volunteer days, and fundraisers that bring our community together. Every visitor who walks through our gates becomes part of the Kowiachobee story — helping us continue our mission through awareness, compassion, and action.
